Baking Crave

I've had this urge to bake these last couple weeks! But with working a ton and not having every, single, powdered sugar ingredient in my cupboard I've pushed it to way side for a bit. ( I did make these cute cupcakes though!)

I gathered some inspiration for when I do get the ingredients and opportunity for my baking crave!

Click on links for recipes! I'd love to see what you've baked!

Southwestern over the Shoulder

From Blankets to Poncho's. From Jewelry to Handbags, I've had Navajo on my mind!!

It's really a classic print that fits into any season, anytime but we will be seeing more of it than usual in the months to come. Especially in handbag form!

Rebecca Minkoff has a subtle version here that is GREAT and I also found these BEAUTIFUL ones at Free People.

I definitely could have used a blanket or throw is this print for laying out this summer (I just realized this yesterday dang it!) but since that ship is close to sailing, I'm thinking I'll be embracing it with a Handbag!

From Chaotic to Zen

I make an effort to keep things organized around my house... really! but sometimes rushing around and a little bit of laziness allows for items to get out of place and perhaps not be properly put away.

I'd been realizing that the shelf in my living room was getting cluttered and looking blech
So I took some time (literally 20 mins!) and got it back to Type A order!

(you'll have to excuse the photo's... I'm in the market for a new camera!)

{out of control shelf}
(yes, I was watching The Bachelorette!)

I basically put the stray movie cases back in the cabinet they belong in and took the paperwork and files out where I found a better spot for them. I kept the other items I like to look at and grab for reference every once in awhile on the shelf.

Let's hope if can stay this way!!

Whitney Port~ Our Starbird!

I've always connected the most with Whitney Port from my days watching her on The Hills to her graceful transition to The City. She emulates the laid back, classy business persona that's both approachable and respectable.. It's been neat to watch her styling career start and soar into her clothing line in such a real and genuine way!

Here's a couple looks from Fall 2011 African inspired collection.

{love the body con skirt with flowy blouse for balance}

{A full skirt knotted to show some ankle in a fall mustard hue}

 {classic neck tie with matching cuffs}

{perfect wrap dress in a beautiful print}

Vintage Traditions

I usually make it up to my parents house for the weekend once a month or so. My Mom and I have lots of traditions but lately we've made a new routine! We start out by grabbing a coffee on our way for a day of vintage shopping. Then we'll plan our dinner menu over lunch, usually end up BBQ-ing with my Dad and younger brother and then finally, relax for the evening with a glass of wine!

The days are really simple and really fun! We like to take photo's of different pieces in the vintage shops that inspire us. Sometimes we buy them on the spot. Sometimes we go back for them, and sometimes we find a way to make them from similar things we already have at home.

Here are some things we were loving from our most recent trip!

{a memo board fashioned from an old motel room organizer}

{golden angel wings }

{mason jars and flowers in a rustic basket}

Tippy Toe into Fall

While I'm still wearing the heck out of my sandals, I have to face the fact (I might be getting a teeny excited!) that it's time to take a closer look at all this clothing for fall and actually think about how I want to start my summer/fall transition!

Boots are a necessity. I went last year not having an essential pair and believe me- It made dressing for the Seattle rain a misery and ruined a couple pairs of my flats :(

Since we're taking baby steps... I picked 2 pairs I found from Boutique 9. (Nine West's fashion forward  big sister) I also added a couple Lockheart Handbags (Beautiful leather bags!!) that could be a great pair with the boots.
